Full list of Redskins 2018 draft picks

The Washington Redskins chose Alabama defensive lineman Da’Ron Payne on Thursday as their first pick during the 2018 NFL Draft.

The team followed with Louisiana running back Derrius Guice in the second round and Louisville offensive tackle Geron Christian in the third round.

Day 3 saw the ‘Skins bring a couple of Hokies home: nose tackle Tim Settle and cornerback Greg Stroman played together at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, and again at Virginia Tech. Now they’re Redskins teammates after getting drafted in Rounds 5 and 7, respectively.

Here are all eight Redskins draft picks.

Round 2, 59th overall: Derrius Guice — RB, LSU Guice was originally expected to be as high as a late first-round pick, but fell near the end of the second round. Washington originally owned the 44th overall pick, but traded down in the second round to improve their fifth-round pick (142nd overall) to a third-round selection (74th overall). Round 3, 74th overall: Geron Christian — T, Louisville As a 3-year starter at Louisville, Christian gained experience playing both tackle positions. Current backup Redskins swing tackle Ty Nsekhe is 32 years-old and playing in the final year of his contract, thus making Christian the logical choice to replace him. (Photo by Thomas B. Round 4, 109th overall: Troy Apke — S, Penn State The speedy safety ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds at the NFL Combine and figures to make an immediate impact on special teams, though he’s viewed as a bit of a developmental project on defense. Apke’s father, Steve, was a replacement player for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 1987 strike. (AP Photo/Rick Scuteri)

Round 5, 163rd overall: Tim Settle — DL,  Virginia Tech The Redskins waited a round later, but still got a local guy we said they should. Settle, a Manassas native, was a Washington Post All-Metro pick and earned second-team All-ACC honors at nose tackle in 2017. (Photo by Michael Shroyer/Getty Images)

6th round, 197th overall: Shaun Dion Hamilton — ILB, Alabama The Burgundy and Gold sure love their Crimson. Hamilton is the second Alabama defensive player taken by the ‘Skins in this draft and fourth in the last two drafts. Hamilton is a low risk/high reward pick; knee injuries ended his last two seasons at Alabama but if he stays healthy in Washington, he’s the big, fast tackling machine you’d expect from Nick Saban’s stout Crimson Tide defense. 7th round, 241st overall: Greg Stroman — CB, Virginia Tech It wasn’t the Hokie he predicted, but WTOP’s Rob Woodfork was right to think the Redskins would add yet another Virginia Tech corner on Day 3 of the draft. Stroman was a first team All-ACC defender in 2017 and an honorable mention as a kick returner. That versatility could help the Bristow, Va. native stick to the roster. (AP Photo/Don Petersen)

7th round, 256th overall: Trey Quinn — WR, SMU Mr. Irrelevant actually matters in many different areas. In his native Louisiana, Quinn was a two-time state finalist in the 100-meter dash and was a standout baseball player, throwing a no-hitter in the 2008 Little League World Series before a great high school career. But football is clearly his sport; Quinn is the grandson of a football coach and in 2017, led the nation with a school-record 114 catches for 1,236 yards and 13 touchdowns. (AP Photo/LM Otero)
