WASHINGTON– How ’bout them Redskins? As they head off to the playoffs, new merchandise commemorating their NFC East division championship has rolled into stores throughout the region.

Mark Siegel, a manager at a Modell’s in Arlington, expected delivery of everything from hats to T-shirts and extra Kirk Cousins jerseys.

“It’s the first time in three years, so there’s a lot of excitement here,” Siegel said.

Siegel said he and his employees have been fielding phone calls in the past 24 hours, after it was announced playoff merchandise would be delivered.

“It just arrived here in the last half-hour,” Siegel said, as he and employees positioned the Redskins gear immediately inside the front door.

The first shopper to snap up merchandise said he worked nearby, and made time to shop for his playoff garb.

The items on display were worn by the Redskins in the locker room, after their 38-24 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.

“The t-shirt is a Nike black, it says ‘The East is on lock,’ and above it, you’ve got the championship hats, by New Era, that say NFC East Champions,” Siegel said.

He said additional Cousins jerseys are on order, and could arrive any minute, in the next UPS delivery.

“As one of my coworkers says, winning creates an excitement in the city,” Siegel said. “If they win, I could see more gear coming in, but hopefully this is the first of a long run.”

Redskins champions gear is also available from the team’s online store, and there are five Redskins team stores in Virginia and Maryland.
