Western Maryland resort with lodge, restaurant, cabins and yurts listed for $7.9M

A 43-acre resort in western Maryland has hit the market for $7.9 million, offering a unique opportunity for individuals looking to get into the hospitality industry.

Savage River Lodge at 1600 Mount Aetna in Frostburg includes a 10,000-square-foot main lodge with a restaurant and bar, as well as 18 cabins, eight yurts and a private three-bedroom residence. The resort has been in operation since 1999 and is surrounded by 700 acres of state forest, including fishing rivers and trails for hiking, biking, cross country skiing and more.

Listing agent for the property Terah Crawford of Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations and Sales said the lodge’s owners are nearing retirement age and ready to move away from daily management of the property. Mike Dreisbach and Jan Russell acquired the property in 1997 and built the resort under their vision of a cozy getaway in a natural setting.

“They want it to be someone else’s treasure the way it has been for them,” Crawford said.
