WASHINGTON — A U.S. Army lieutenant colonel from Stafford, Virginia, was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison for the production of child pornography through social media and instant messaging apps, the Justice Department said Tuesday.
Steven Jon Frederiksen, 42, was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison by a Virginia federal judge who also ordered him a 20-year term of supervised release following the prison sentence.
Frederiksen pleaded guilty to the production of child pornography and attempted coercion and enticement of a minor in August.
The Department of Justice said that in November 2015, the FBI was notified that Frederiksen was using his government-issued laptop to engage in the production of child pornography. At the time, Frederiksen was working at the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Frederiksen admitted to the use of online chat applications, including Kik, to entice four girls between 14 and 17 years old to produce pornography through the internet, which he saved in an online cloud storage account. He was also in possession of additional images of child pornography.
