NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Police in Virginia say they’re looking for a man who walked into an elementary school and claimed to be an undercover police officer.
In a statement released Friday, a Norfolk police spokesman says the man claimed he needed to conduct a security check. When staff members questioned him, he ran from the school.
School officials say they placed Mary Calcott Elementary on lockdown for about three hours and notified parents.
The alleged impersonator remained at large as of 12:30 p.m. Surveillance camera footage released to the media shows him wearing a blue plaid shirt with a couple of the top button undone.
