Trial over deadly fight over football game starting

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) _ A jury trial is scheduled to begin for a Chesapeake man who prosecutors say killed a man in a bar fight last year that began with an argument over a football game.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1Op6t25 ) reports that 37-year-old Ronnie Cisko is scheduled to go on trial Monday in Chesapeake Circuit Court after being charged with second-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Charles Setchel.

Police say Cisko punched Setchel in the neck on Dec. 28, 2014 after an argument erupted in a Chesapeake restaurant over an NFL game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins. A doctor testified at a preliminary hearing that Cisko’s punch to Setchel’s neck tore one of Setchel’s arteries, killing him.

In May, a judge refused a request from Cisko’s attorney to reduce the charge to manslaughter.
