WASHINGTON — It’s been three years since John and Ann Betar were named the “longest married couple in America” by the Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a Christian organization based in San Bernardino, California. Now, the #LongestLove couple is sharing their advice with the world.
After 83 years of marriage, the Connecticut couple is spending their Valentine’s Day on Twitter answering questions about life, love and marriage.
Handy, an online home services company, is hosting the Q&A on its Twitter account and will be making a donation to an organization of the couple’s choosing, The Washington Post reports.
Here are a few questions the Betars already answered:
“What is your advice on raising respectful #children?”
Ann: “Listen to an older person, whether you want to or not. We both learned that from our parents – respect an older person’s words”

“Did either of you ever go away with friends, and leave your #betterhalf home with the kids and their job?”
Ann: NO! John had a grocery store and I had 5 kids to take care of where would you go? We amused ourselves with the kids and games.
