WASHINGTON — Alex Ovechkin has been traded. Well, his jersey anyway.

President Donald Trump gave Russian President Vladimir Putin the gift of a jersey belonging to Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin and a hockey puck, according to ABC News, via a Putin spokesman.

During a Monday news conference, Putin gifted Trump a soccer ball, just a day removed from the conclusion of the World Cup in Russia.

The gift exchange came during the two leaders’ meeting in Helsinki.

Ovechkin, the captain of the Stanley Cup champion Capitals, has long been known as a Putin supporter.
