WASHINGTON — Face it: We’re not all safe, courteous drivers. But some behind-the-wheel-behavior is worse than others.
The Expedia Road Range Report ranks the least popular “types” of drivers, when considering driver etiquette and safety.
“Many of us have been guilty of these behaviors behind the wheel — it’s easier to notice poor driving when it isn’t you,” said John Morrey, vice president and general manager of Expedia.com.
The 12 least popular American drivers are:
Rank | Behavior | Percentage |
---|---|---|
1 | The Texter | 22 |
2 | The Tailgater | 14 |
3 | The Last-Minute Line-Cutter | 13 |
4 | The Left-Lane Hog | 11 |
5 | The Crawler | 8 |
6 | The Multitasker | 8 |
7 | The Swerver | 8 |
8 | The Speeder | 5 |
9 | The Drifter | 5 |
10 | The Honker | 3 |
11 | The Inconsiderate | 2 |
12 | The Red Light Racer | 1 |
In the three years that Expedia has compiled the list, “The Texter” has topped it every year.
The survey included interviews of 1,000 participants. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.
