WASHINGTON — Metro announced Friday that more wireless service will be provided in two underground tunnel segments on the Red, Green and Yellow lines.
The service, from Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, will now be available on the Red Line between Union Station and Dupont Circle, and on Green and Yellow lines between Gallery Place and Fort Totten stations.
A number of Metro tunnel segments already have cell service, including between Glenmont and Silver Spring on the Red Line, and between Potomac Avenue and Stadium Armory on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines.
Metro also rolled out its free public Wi-Fi service in all underground stations last month. The transit system said it would expand Wi-Fi to all Metro stations by June 2019.
