WASHINGTON — It’s the periodic dilemma that tests an iPhone user’s relationship with his device — whether to upgrade to Apple’s newest mobile operating system, as soon as it’s available.
Released Tuesday, iOS 10 offers 92 new features for users of iPhone 5 or later, 2012 iPad or later, 2013 iPad Mini or later, or the 2015 iPod Touch, according to Yahoo’s David Pogue.
With the upgrade, users will have to expend less energy — with exhausting swipes and and clicks —and find it easier to accomplish tasks ranging from locating where they parked their car to donating an organ.
@AugensteinWTOP love ios10 so far especially all the extras with messaging. Having fun with it!

@AugensteinWTOP Have it, I’m missing the slide to unlock function. But I’m guessing that’s just a habit. Music app is a needed refresh.

@AugensteinWTOP Have updated both lPads, not the older iPhone. Don’t hate anything, like the changes to Photos & iMessenger. Works well. — WashingtonDame (@Fantine21) September 16, 2016
@AugensteinWTOP I never upgrade until the 2nd or 3rd edition as there are always bugs that need tweaked in the early editions… — Rocky (@herdnurse) September 16, 2016

CNET says owners of 5 and 5C models might want to wait because they “are on the bottom run of the iOS 10 compatability ladder.
However, ARS Technica calls iOS 10 “a pleasant surprise,” and says “2012’s hardware is still up to the task of running 2016’s software.”
Analytics company Mixpanel says almost 15 percent of people with compatible iOS devices had uploaded iOS 10 within 24 hours of release.
