WASHINGTON — With summer break lingering on its last legs, back to school preparation includes taking those necessary immunization shots. To ease the process, find out what some counties have to offer by way of free shot clinics.
In Montgomery County, free shots for rising seventh graders are available over the next few weekends. Students entering seventh grade must have one Tdap (Tetanus-diphtheria-attenuated pertussis) and one meningococcal (MCV4) vaccination.
The first free shot clinics are Saturday, Aug. 27, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dennis Avenue Health Center
(2000 Dennis Ave.) in Silver Spring, Maryland, and at the Germantown Health Center (12900 Middlebrook Rd.) in Germantown. For more times and locations, call the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services’ Immunization Program at 240-777-1050 or School Health Services at 240-777-1550.
There are also free shot clinics available in Prince George’s County, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. all on Aug. 20, but offered in three locations. These clinics will happen in Greenbelt, Temple Hills and Hyattsville. For more details, check this website for addresses and required documents.
Programs are also in place in Fairfax County and in D.C.
