School opening dates in the DC area

WASHINGTON — Summer can’t last forever, and at some point in the next few weeks, all D.C.-area kids will have returned to school.

Below is the list of the first day of school in each system in the region. The links go to each system’s full school-year calendar.

Alexandria: Sept. 6 (Aug. 4 for the Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School)

Arlington: Sept. 6 (Sept. 7 for VPI and pre-K special education)

Culpeper County: Opened Aug. 9

Falls Church: Sept. 6

Fairfax County: Sept. 6

Fauquier County: Aug. 17

Frederick County: Aug. 17

Fredericksburg: Sept. 6

Loudoun County: Aug. 29

Manassas: Aug. 29

Manassas Park City: Aug. 15 for grades 1-12; Aug. 16 for kindergarten
