Women’s World Cup watch parties for every country

Perhaps thanks to the United States winning it all four years ago, the Women’s World Cup promises to be a popular draw in and around D.C. Want to join in on the fun? Here’s a comprehensive list of places to enjoy the action.

In our research, we found many of the embassies for the nations represented in the tournament are not holding official watch parties. So we’ll start with some local places showing all the games before going group-by-group to see which individual nations will have events in the area. Know of a watch party we haven’t listed? Let us know and we’ll add it in.

National Harbor will show most of the matches on the 18-foot screen near the waterfront, and hold clinics and offer specials. Fado Irish Pub, though dubbing itself the headquarters for Team USA, is scheduled to show every match and is offering bucket deals on select beers. As they did for the men’s tournament last year, Mackey’s Public House will show all the matches and offer specials. Franklin Hall will be open for every U.S. women’s game with full sound, and starting Tuesday, June 11, will have a woman owned/operated Tap Takeover highlighting beer made by women in the craft beer scene. Opaline Bar & Brasserie will feature fare representing the countries participating in the games, and local draft beers for $8. St. Arnold’s Mussel Bar’s Jefferson Place location will open at 11 a.m. with $6 half liter beer specials and food specials for all matches. Places like Ireland’s Four Courts, Lou’s City Bar, The Queen Vic, The Fairmont Hotel and Silver Branch Brewery are also expected to have specials during select games. (Courtesy National Harbor)

Group A As the proud host nation, the French Embassy is hosting a free watch party at La Maison Française in Northwest on Friday. Online registration is required and doors will open early for the Opening Ceremony and then the match between France and the Republic of Korea. Group F Wheaton Sports Pavilion will host a free watch party during the USA-Chile match on June 16, with Washington Spirit players on hand to sign autographs and cheer on the USA.
