Easter egg toy ingestion hazard prompts Target recall

WASHINGTON — Target is recalling about 560,000 units of Hatch & Grow Easter toys because they could be life threatening if ingested.

If swallowed, the Easter and Dino toys could expand inside the body to cause “intestinal obstructions” and “could be life threatening,” according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Severe discomfort, vomiting and dehydration would result.

The commission warned that surgery would be needed to remove the unit from the body, and that the toy might not show up on an x-ray.

The recall applies to Target’s Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs and Easter Grow Toys with the model number 234-25-1200 and Hatch Your Own Dino with model number 234-09-0016. The products were sold in Target stores nationwide in February and March 2017.

Consumers can return the product to any Target store for a full refund. For more information, contact Target at 800-440-0680 or visit the store’s website.
