WASHINGTON — About 8 million Cuisinart food processors are being recalled because pieces of the blade can break off and end up in food, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
The voluntary recall by Conair Corp. involves 22 models sold in the U.S. and Canada between July 1996 and December 2015.
The recall involves the riveted blades in Cuisinart food processors with model numbers that begin with the following:
- CFP-9;
- CFP-11;
- DFP-7;
- DFP-11;
- DFP-14;
- DLC-5;
- DLC-7;
- DLC-8;
- DLC-10;
- DLC-XP;
- DLC-2007;
- DLC-2009;
- DLC-2011;
- DLC-2014;
- DLC-3011;
- DLC-3014;
- EV-7;
- EV-10;
- EV-11;
- EV-14;
- KFP-7;
- MP-14.
Consumers will find the model number on the bottom of the food processor.
The recall only involves processors with four rivets in the stainless steel blades.
There have been 69 reports of people finding broken pieces of blades in food, and 30 reports of mouth lacerations or tooth injuries.
Consumers should stop using the processors and contact Cuisinart for a replacement. Cuisinart can be reached weekdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 877-339-2534 and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the same number.
