Teenager killed after being ejected from vehicle on Prince William Pkwy

WASHINGTON — A woman died after being ejected from the car she was driving on the Prince William Parkway near Manassas, Virginia, early Wednesday morning.

Police in Prince William County identified the driver as 19-year-old Bonnie Elizabeth McCafferty of Manassas in a news release.

Police said the accident happened a little after 1:15 a.m. on Prince William Parkway near Scenic Point Place.

Investigators found that a 2005 Honda Accord was driving northbound on the parkway when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car veered to the right off the roadway where it struck an embankment and rolled.

McCafferty, who was the only person in the car, was ejected from the vehicle. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The westbound lanes of Prince William Parkway were closed for several hours while police investigated the crashed.

Police said speed was a factor in the crash, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors.
