UPDATE 11/07/2017 6:30 a.m.: Sinahi Aguilar-Cruz, 16, has been found safe, police said Tuesday
EARLIER 11/05/17 10 a.m.:
WASHINGTON — A Virginia teen who police say was kidnapped in October by a man with suspected gang ties and went missing again Saturday, police said.
Sinahi Aguilar-Cruz, 16, of Prince William County, was last seen voluntarily leaving her home Nov. 4 at 11:30 p.m. at Endsley Turn in Woodbridge, police say.
She is described by Prince William police as 125 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. She’s a Hispanic female who is 5 feet 2 inches tall.
Aguilar-Cruz previously went missing in October.
In that incident, she had last been seen with Roberto Medrano Segovia, 21, at a party in Woodbridge, where the two got into an argument. Segovia was then seen forcing Aguilar-Cruz into a car.
An Amber Alert was issued for Aguilar-Cruz.
Segovia was arrested in October on charges of abduction, gang participation, destruction of property and providing a false name to law enforcement.
According to police, Medrano-Segovia threatened others at the party with a knife and claimed to be a member of the MS-13 street gang. He left, but later returned and slashed the tires of a car that belonged to someone who had intervened on behalf of the girl.
Police found the two together about a mile away from the location of the party at another home in Woodbridge. About 12 hours had passed since the girl was reported missing. The girl was unharmed and returned to her family, police said.
Police spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Perok said the teen, who is from Woodbridge, and Medrano-Segovia had a previous relationship and investigators don’t believe the girl’s kidnapping stemmed from gang activity.
