WASHINGTON — The search is on for six puppies in Manassas, Virginia, after a store owner says someone stole the dogs.

“Our first reaction was obviously shock,” said Roger Kummer, owner of DC Pups in Manassas.

Kummer said he and his fiancee Shania Sample arrived to find the empty cages Sunday night. Missing were six dogs which sell for anywhere between $800 and $1,100.

Kummer said he believes the person responsible got in and out of the store through a back window, which was found broken. The couple says a security camera was also ripped from the wall of the building.

Kummer says he is concerned about the health of the dogs, since they are only several weeks old and have a very strict diet.

“They’re stressed, their anxious, because they can tell they are in a stressful anxious environment,” Kummer said.

The couple advertises the puppies on a website and are unsure if someone they may have been communicating with online could be responsible.

The missing dog breeds include a Malti Poo, Maltese, Cava Chon, Malti Pom and a Cavalier Spaniel. The Manassas police department says they are investigating the case.

The couple is asking those with the dogs to return them to the store or to an area animal shelter.

“Return these poor puppies, please,” Sample said.
