WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County police have charged a 14-year-old boy with making a threat of mass violence against Crossland High School in Temple Hills, Maryland, on Tuesday.
The school was placed on lockdown during the investigation.
A Tuesday night news release said county detectives determined he was not able to carry out the threat he made on Twitter. The boy’s name is not being released due to his age.
In the statement, Prince George’s County Police Chief Henry Stawinski said they “take every threat of school violence seriously,” and urged parents to speak with their children about making a threat, “even if it is determined to be a prank.”
The chief posted a video on Twitter with an update.
