Man dead after hit-and-run in Prince George’s County

WASHINGTON — Police in Prince George’s County are looking for a white pick up truck that fatally struck a man on Thursday, Feb. 8 in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

According to authorities, the victim was trying to cross Wheeler Road at St. Barnabas Road when he was struck by a white pickup truck with a ladder on the top or the side shortly before 7 p.m.

The man has been identified as 27-year-old Kenard Hawkins of no fixed address. Investigators are still working to locate the striking vehicle.

The pickup truck was making a left turn from St. Barnabas Road onto Wheeler Road when it hit the man in the crosswalk, Prince George’s County police said.

The driver then left the scene and the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
