WASHINGTON — Police say a D.C. man was fatally shot and then pushed out of a car onto the road near Route 295 in Capitol Heights, Maryland, Thursday evening during the rush-hour commute.

The Prince George’s County police identified the man as 27-year-old Armani Coles of Northwest D.C.

Officers discovered Coles lying in the roadway at Kenilworth and Eastern avenues in Capitol Heights about 6:20 p.m. Thursday. Police said Coles had multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The police believe Coles was shot and then pushed out of the vehicle, but detectives are still trying to determine where the shooting occurred.

Police said they are still investigating a motive and working to identify a suspect or suspects in the case.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case, police said.
