Bullets fly at moving car in Prince George’s Co., causing crash

WASHINGTON — Two men are in the hospital recovering from injuries after a wild, dangerous scene in Prince George’s County, Maryland, that unfolded near the Capital Beltway early Thursday morning.

According to investigators, suspects in a moving car fired shots at another moving car near Walker Mill Regional Park in the Capital Heights area.

Police went to the scene after receiving a report of the incident just after midnight.

“Officers responded to the area of Walker Mill Road and Old Walker Mill Road,” said Cpl. Nicole Hubbard with Prince George’s County’s police department.

Both of the cars involved ended up crashing about four miles away by the intersection of White House and Largo roads, police officials said.

Two men, who were in the car that was shot at, were injured.

Investigators determined they had not been hit by the gunfire.

“Officers located two victims, both suffering from injuries as a result of the car crash,” Hubbard said.  “The two victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.”

Three suspects from the other car were able to run away from the scene before officers showed up, officials said.

The search for those individuals is ongoing.

As of early Thursday afternoon, police were still trying to learn more about the suspects and the events that led to the altercation.

“All that is still under investigation,” said Hubbard.
