WASHINGTON — A new transit center in the Langley Park area is expected to serve 12,000 customers each day and will collect some nearby bus stops under its canopy.

Its dedication is Tuesday morning, but bus travelers will have to wait until Thursday to use the Takoma-Langley Crossroads Transit Center, which is located along New Hampshire Avenue at University Boulevard in Hyattsville, Maryland.

Boarding and transfers will take place on transit center grounds, just off of both busy streets and adjacent to Langley Park Shopping Center.

Additional Features

  • Screens are available with arrival times. Metro customers can opt into MetroAlerts for any schedule changes, including delays or disruptions. BusETA is another option to get Metrobus arrival times.
  • Travelers can use seven bays, lettered A through G, for pickup and dropoff.
  • Clear signs are painted on the concrete ground with words and pictures indicating where customers should board.
  • A large, transparent canopy provides plenty of natural light by day, and will also be well-lit after dark.

Prince George’s County’s The Bus, Montgomery County’s RideOn, University of Maryland’s Shuttle (with campus ID) and Metrobus will all serve the transit center.

Some nearby bus stops will relocate to the transit center once it opens on December 22, 2016.
