WASHINGTON — A Maryland State police trooper’s vehicle was struck while responding to a separate vehicle crash on Interstate 495 early Saturday morning, police said.
At 6:20 a.m., Trooper Jasmine Ingram arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the inner loop of I-495 and Maryland Rt. 4 in Upper Marlboro, police said in a news release. Ingram had just pulled into the left shoulder, where a vehicle had hit the guardrail, when a Toyota Corolla left the roadway and struck Ingram’s vehicle.
An ambulance took Ingram to Prince George’s County Hospital Center for medical evaluation, police said. She had no life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition Saturday.
The Toyota Corolla driver was identified as a 37-year-old Florida resident. Police said the driver did not request medical attention after the crash.
The crash was still being investigated and charges were pending Saturday, police said. Alcohol did not appear to have been a factor.
No one was injured in the original crash that Ingram had been responding to before her own vehicle was hit.
Lanes were closed Saturday morning in the collision’s aftermath but have since reopened.
