Woman rescued after Oxon Hill living room collapses

WASHINGTON — An elderly woman has been rescued after the floor in her Oxon Hill, Maryland, house collapsed Tuesday morning.

The Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department says part of the first floor of the home on Abington Road collapsed into the basement just before 7 a.m.

The woman, described as in her 80s, was in the living room at the time.

She was rescued by firefighters and is in good condition.

A building inspector will check out the damage.

“I’m confident house will be condemned,” fire spokesman Mark Brady writes in an email to WTOP.
