Suspect arrested in July Md. hotel homicide

WASHINGTON — A man suspected in the July 2 killing in a Laurel, Maryland, hotel has been arrested.

Police arrested Kenneth Frizzell Diggs Jr., 47, in Washington, D.C. He is charged with killing Amanda Duer, 29, of La Plata, Maryland, and the attempted killing of Derick Henderson, 33, of Washington, D.C.

Howard County police developed a lead about Diggs’ possible whereabouts, and he was arrested with assistance from the United States Marshals and D.C. police on Oct. 27.

Police arrived at the Turf Motel on July 2 and found Duer and Henderson shot. Duer died at Laurel Regional Hospital and Henderson sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Investigators believe that Diggs and the victims knew each other. A news release said that witnesses saw Diggs enter the doorway of Duer and Henderson’s motel room and fire shots at them.
