18-year-old fatally shot, man wounded in Upper Marlboro

WASHINGTON — A woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after they were shot in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, early Wednesday.

The Prince George’s County police told WTOP they found the two in a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds, at Swiss Gap and Prince Place just before 2 a.m.

Both victims were taken to the hospital, where the woman, later identified as Alyssa Banks, 18, of Prince Place, died.

The police said Banks and the man, whose name they haven’t released, knew each other. They characterized his injuries as non-life threatening.

There’s no information on a suspect or motive at this time.

Police said Animal Control took an animal from the scene as well.
