WASHINGTON — A D.C. man was shot and killed and his car stolen after he filled up his car with gas less than a mile from his home Wednesday morning.

Alonzo Jackson, 68, of Southeast D.C., was shot about 7 a.m. at a gas station on Marlboro Pike just outside the D.C. line, Prince George’s County police said.

The killer took off with Jackson’s car: a 2015 black Dodge Charger with D.C. tags DF0113, police said.

“He’s just going about his business and he’s approached by a suspect who cold-bloodily shoots him and takes his car,” said Lt. David Coleman. “It is so incredibly offensive to me and I’m sure it is to everyone.”

Police released surveillance video that shows the man believed to be the shooter seen here:

“This is still an active investigation,” Coleman said. “We live in an information age, and we’ll pay you for it.”

Anyone who sees the suspected shooter or Jackson’s stolen car should call 911.

Anyone with information for police may remain anonymous. Tipsters can text PGPD with their tip to 274637. Crime Solvers also allows you to submit information online.
