WASHINGTON — A National Park Service contractor who was struck by a car while mowing along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway has died, the service announced.
The contractor, whose name has not been released, was struck Tuesday afternoon and died of his injuries later that night, the U.S. Park Police said Wednesday.
His death remains under investigation.
A car traveling northbound on the parkway near Route 410 in Riverdale, Maryland, struck the mower at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, critically injuring the man. CPR administered at the scene initially revived the man, who was then transported to a hospital in Prince George’s County where he died late that night.
The wreck snarled traffic on the parkway for several hours Tuesday.
