WASHINGTON — The 14-year-old Prince George’s County boy who was fatally stabbed Monday morning was killed while trying to protect his mother during a domestic incident with her live-in boyfriend.

Newly released charging documents detail what happened in Oxon Hill that day.

Shortly before 7:30 a.m., police went to an apartment on Audrey Lane and found Sean Crawford leaving the building. He was taken into custody.

Then, officers went into apartment 202 and found Keyshaun Mason and an 18-year-old boy suffering from stab wounds. Mason, 14, later died at Children’s Hospital. The other teen was taken to Prince George’s County Hospital and treated for his injuries.

Crawford was Lakisha Jenkins’ live-in boyfriend, a charging document said. Jenkins and Crawford were involved in a domestic dispute. During the argument, Mason and the other teen tried to help their mother. Crawford got a kitchen knife, then barricaded himself and Jenkins in the master bedroom.

Mason and the other teen forced their way into the bedroom and tried to get Crawford to leave the apartment. That’s when Crawford stabbed the 18-year-old in the shoulder and Mason in the chest, according to the charging document.

Crawford fled the apartment and was apprehended by police officers. He faces attempted first- and second-degree murder charges.
