1 hurt in Prince George’s Co. chemical spill

WASHINGTON — One man is seriously hurt and four others are hospitalized after a chemical spill in Prince George’s County Wednesday afternoon.

A truck driver was delivering chemicals to a warehouse when an acid in the shipment came in contact with some chlorine at about noon in the 8000 block of Penn Randall Place in Forestville.

The driver suffered serious burns as a result of the chemical reaction, says Prince George’s County Fire Spokesman Mark Brady.

Four other warehouse employees tried to help the driver, but became lightheaded.  Emergency crews transported the four employees to an area hospital for evaluation.

Some businesses near the incident have been evacuated while the clean up continues.

Officials are investigating what caused the reaction to occur.

Officials have not released any additional details about the situation at this time.
