Suspect sought after girl sexually assaulted at local CVS

WASHINGTON — Police in Prince George’s County are asking for help identifying a man who they say sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl inside a CVS store.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. on June 12 at the CVS located in the 5700 block of Riverdale Road.

Detectives say they believe the man inappropriately touched the victim before she was able to push him away.

According to police, the child’s parent was in the store, but not with her at the time of the incident.

Police say the person of interest is described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old, five feet, nine inches tall and 160-170 pounds. He wore large black earrings at the time of the incident, police say.

Police corrected the person of interest description and picture on Monday, saying that after further investigation, the black man whose photo was released last week was not connected to the assault.

Police have not commented on if the case is linked to a similar assault where a man entered a restroom of the Beltway Plaza Mall on Greenbelt Road about 7 p.m. Thursday and touched a 6-year-old girl before she was able to yell for help from her mother, city of Greenbelt police say.

If you have any information about the suspect, call police at 301-699-2601.
