WASHINGTON — Metro crews worked through the night to make repairs after a pedestrian bridge fell onto the Metro and MARC train tracks in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Wednesday afternoon.
Just before 6 a.m. Thursday, Metro said the Greenbelt Station has reopened. Green Line service is operating normally.
Crews have restored full Green Line service between the College Park and Greenbelt stations.
Yellow Rush+ service will operate to and from College Park.
MARC’s Camden Line service was suspended Wednesday, but there is full service Thursday.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday, Metro says a piece of construction equipment operated by a Metro contractor struck a pedestrian bridge, causing the bridge to fall in the 5100 block of Berwyn Road in Berwyn Heights.
The contractor, Skanska, was performing work to support the construction of a new track.
There were no injuries and all workers were accounted for, says Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Spokesman Mark Brady.
There were no civilians in the area.
