Larry Gesner, co-managing partner of D.C. law firm Venable LLP, died Tuesday after a long illness. He was 66.
Gesner, a 21-year Venable veteran, had served in the role of co-managing partner since May 2016, operating out of the firm’s D.C. office. Venable relocated its headquarters from Baltimore, where it was founded in 1900, to D.C. in 2017.
“Larry was truly extraordinary and unique among us for his decency, good will, patience, kindness, intelligence, good temperament, and above all friendship,” Stu Ingis, chairman of Venable, said in a statement. “He will be deeply missed.”
According to Venable’s website, Gesner focused primarily on structuring and negotiating complex financing transactions for institutional clients, including Fannie Mae. He also handled real estate-related transactions — purchases and sales, development and entity formation — and corporate acquisitions and dispositions.
