A Bethesda mansion that’s been on the market for 16 months is expected to close this week as the most expensive home sold in the suburban Maryland community in nearly four years.
The 15,000-square-foot 8801 Fernwood Road went under contract Monday and the sale is slated to close Wednesday in a no-contingency deal, said Daniel Heider of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, who represents the seller. The home first listed for $12.5 million in early October 2022 and was later reduced to $10.37 million. It will sell for $9.25 million, Heider confirmed.
The prospective buyer was not identified.
The last Bethesda home to sell for more was the 20,000-square-foot 5517 Pembroke Road, which traded for $11.3 million in October 2020. Former Washington Wizards’ All-Star guard Bradley Beal sold his former Bethesda home in November for $9.185 million, according to public records. Beal’s mansion came complete with an NBA-built, half-court regulation indoor basketball court.
