Charanjit ‘Sunny’ Singh

Charanjit “Sunny” Singh graduated high school with a 1.6 GPA. But contrary to what you might glean from that, he was — and is — a pretty smart and savvy guy in the world of entrepreneurship.

Instead of going to college right away, Singh took a job at Chevy Chase Bank and worked his way up. By 23, he was the youngest branch manager at Capital One Financial Corp., which had acquired Chevy Chase Bank in 2009. But, “I thought, being the youngest branch manager at a bank could not be my life’s goal,” he says.

So he quit the bank and purchased a moving company, ultimately growing Ace Moving & Storage into a success — one that was snapped up by 1-800-PACK-RAT, a national moving brand. Singh then shifted into the government contracting sphere, providing relocation services for the military through the Department of Defense’s DP3 program. But he was still hungry for more.
