President Donald Trump has talked of massive military budgets for more jets, ships and troops, but increased investment in the Pentagon would also likely be of great benefit to the department’s IT vendors.
And according to a recent report from business intelligence firm Technology Business Research Inc., perhaps the greatest beneficiary of any Trump-fueled Pentagon IT bump would be Falls Church-based General Dynamics Corp.’s (NYSE: GD) Information Systems and Technology division.
IS&T is a $9.2 billion division within the $31.4 billion General Dynamics — combining a $4.45 billion IT division with a $4.7 billion military mobile communications and command-and-control unit.
In 2016, General Dynamics saw 2.5 percent growth in what was an otherwise sluggish government IT market. Joey Cresta, a public sector research analyst at TBRI, said Trump’s budget would “keep the good times rolling.”
