College comparison and information website Great Value Colleges just posted its “50 Great (and Mostly Cheap!) College Town Pizza Shops,” and two in Washington make the list.
Virginia can also claim the No. 1 college town pizza shop, with Benny Marzano’s in Blacksburg, home to Virginia Tech University, at the top of the list.
Benny Marzano’s is famous for its gigantic, 28-inch pizzas, which sell for $4 a slice.
“Almost every reviewer agrees that even if you’re hungry, that one slice can be a full meal, making this shop a great and simple deal for the local VT students,” writes Great Value Colleges’ Gabrielle Kratsas. “The single slice is actually served on two plates, and some say it could feed two people.”
Ranked No. 34 on this list is Ledo Restaurant in College Park, Maryland, one of Ledo’s original locations.
“One of the reviewers’ favorite parts of this pizza is the fact that the slices are cut into such small squares, allowing them to eat more and feel less guilty,” Great Value Colleges says.
Ranked No. 36 is 2 Amys, near American University. It makes the list for its authentic, Neapolitan pies.
Great Value Colleges based its rankings on value, diner reviews, and uniqueness of the pizzas, ambience and service.
