BALTIMORE (AP) — A University of Maryland student and wedding photographer is in critical condition after being attacked in downtown Baltimore.
Police say 22-year-old Eric Suydam was beaten unconscious the night of Sept. 20. He was attacked by several assailants as he walked to his car. They took his cellphone and keys.
His family says Suydam had been working a photo booth at a wedding at the 1840s Ballroom in downtown Baltimore.
Police say the attack was “vicious and brutal.” Suydam had a broken nose and injuries to his head and mouth. Doctors have him in a medically induced coma to try to reduce swelling in his brain.
Sandy Suydam says her son had been training for a marathon next month and called him a strong young man.
No arrests have been made.
