HONG KONG (AP) — Top-seeded Sabine Lisicki of Germany advanced to the second round of the Hong Kong Open by beating Monica Niculescu of Romania 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-1 Tuesday.
Lisicki, who double-faulted 10 times, will next face qualifier Grace Min of the United States.
Also, Francesca Schiavone of Italy beat fourth-seeded Christina McHale of the United States 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 and will next face Kimiko Date-Krumm. The Japanese veteran defeated Johanna Larsson of Sweden 6-3, 6-3.
Third-seeded Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic, fifth-seeded Zheng Jie of China, sixth-seeded Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium and seventh-seeded Jana Cepelova of Slovakia also advanced to the second round.
