BALTIMORE (AP) — VA Maryland Health Care System is partnering with Evergreen Health Care to improve health care access for veterans.
The system announced Thursday it has awarded a one-year contract for up to $485,000.
The contract enables the system to refer new veteran patients to Evergreen for general outpatient care and preventive health and education services. It also allows the system to refer new veteran patients for various medical screenings.
The announcement comes after nationwide audits of VA medical centers in response to allegations of inappropriate scheduling practices at some VA medical centers. While the audit did not find improper scheduling activities at the Maryland system, data released as a follow up to the audits found the system needed to improve access for new veteran patients.
