WASHINGTON — Time Warner Cable customers around the country experienced Internet service problems for several hours Wednesday morning, leading subscribers to lash out on social media.
“During our routine network maintenance, an issue with our Internet backbone created disruption with our Internet and On Demand services,” Bobby Amirshahi, vice president of public relations for Time Warner Cable, said in a statement.
The problems started at 4:30 a.m. and service was largely restored by 6 a.m., according to ABC News. The outage didn’t affect telephone or cable services.
During the outage, customers took to Twitter to express their frustration. “Time Warner Cable” began trending on Twitter Wednesday morning.
“Seriously? @TWC have you tried turning the modem off and then turning it back on again? It happens to the best of us! #timewarnercable,” one user wrote on Twitter.
Time Warner Cable is one of the country’s largest Internet providers, with 15 million customers across 29 states, Mashable reports.
