A list ranking the best budget and waist-friendly vacation spots puts Washington at No. 4, but the most interesting part of the list is where we rank for farmers markets.
Personal finance site NerdWallet put its list together based on a half dozen criteria, one of which was the number of farmers markets in a metro. It says Washington has 67 farmers markets, second only to New York City, which has a whopping 148 of them. (The market count comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.)
The overall list, titled “Best Vacation Spots for the Health Conscious,” ranks Washington fifth out of 15 for walkability, but ranks Washington No. 1 for the likelihood of rainy weather in July.
