Baltimore mural project causing controversy

BALTIMORE (AP) — An art project in Baltimore that would bring murals to blighted neighborhoods is causing some controversy.

Television station WJZ-TV (http://cbsloc.al/1kUKMIc ) reports the mural project called “Love Letter to Baltimore” would spend nearly $50,000 to create from five to ten murals.

But while the mayor has voiced her support for the project, the president of the city council calls it a waste of money.

One giant mural near East Eager Avenue is a preview of the project. It’s a mural painted on homes that will be torn down starting next month.

Officials are set to vote on funding the project next week.
