Va. fourth grader may have broken running record

WASHINGTON (AP) — A 10-year-old from Falls Church appears to have broken a world record in running.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/SOWGsm ) reports Rheinhardt Harrison ran a half marathon Sunday in Alexandria’s Running Festival in one hour, 35 minutes and two seconds. That’d be a record for his age, breaking a previous record by more than two minutes. Rheinhardt is now waiting for the Association of Road Racing Statisticians to certify the record.

The fourth grader at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School already holds the world record for a 10-year-old in a ten mile run. On April 6 he ran the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in one hour, 11 minutes and 24 seconds.
