‘The Voice’ vs. ‘American Idol’

Fantasia Barrino The third "American Idol" winner, Barrino went on to perform on the Broadway revival of "The Color Purple" in 2007. Her debut single, "I Believe," debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2005. Barrino returned to "American Idol" for a live performance in 2013.
Candice Glover Glover auditioned three times before finally getting onto "American Idol." She performed her hit single, "I Am Beautiful," on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in 2013. Her debut album, "Music Speaks," was released in February.
Phillip Phillips Phillips' winning song, "Home," is the best selling of all coronation songs. His second album, "Behind the Light," was released May 19.
Scotty McCreery McCreery has also released three albums since winning "American Idol." His most recent big single, "See You Tonight," became his first song to reach the top 10 on Billboard's Country charts.
Lee DeWyze The ninth-season winner has had three releases post-"American Idol" -- "Live It Up," "What Once Was" and "Frames." "Blackbird Song" was used on "The Walking Dead."
Kris Allen Allen's "No Boundaries" and his version of "Heartless" reached the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. His last hit single, "The Vision of Love," was released in March 2012.
David Cook Cook has had two studio releases since winning the seventh season of "American Idol": "David Cook" and "This Loud Morning."
Jordin Sparks Sparks won the sixth season of "American Idol" at age 17, making her the youngest winner of that show.

Sparks' self-titled debut album sold more than two million copies worldwide. "No Air" is currently the third highest-selling single by any "American Idol" winner.
Taylor Hicks Hicks is the first Idol winner to secure a long-term residency in Las Vegas. He performed on Broadway in 2008 and on a national tour of "Grease" in 2009. Hicks sang "Takin' It to the Streets" at the closing night of the 2012 Republican National Convention.
Carrie Underwood One of the more famous American Idols, Underwood has been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008 and into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2009. She has won 6 Grammy Awards, 16 Billboard Music Awards, 11 Academy of Country Music Awards and 7 American Music Awards.

Ruben Studdard Studdard won Season Two of "American Idol." He has released five studio albums, including his platinum-selling debut "Soulful" and the top-selling gospel follow-up, "I Need an Angel." He also appeared on the 15th season of "The Biggest Loser."
Kelly Clarkson Clarkson was the first winner of "American Idol" in 2002 and has since sold more than 20 million albums worldwide while winning three Grammy Awards. She is reportedly working on her sixth studio album.
Joshua Kaufman The 38-year-old from Team Usher was crowned the Season Six winner of NBC's "The Voice" on Tuesday.
Tessanne Amanda Chin The Jamaican songbird won Season Five of "The Voice" and was named Caribbean Journal's 2013 Artist of the Year. Chin performed for President Obama and the first lady in March 2014.

Chin will release her major-label debut album, "Count On My Love," June 24.
Danielle Bradbery Bradbery is the youngest winner of "The Voice," claiming the title at 16. Her debut studio album, "Danielle Bradbery," was released in November 2013, featuring the single "The Heart of Dixie."

She is on tour, and performing in D.C. May 25 during the free National Memorial Day Concert on the Capital Lawn.
Cassadee Pope Pope, who won on the third season of "The Voice," released her latest album, "Frame by Frame," to critical acclaim in 2013. Her debut single, "Wasting All These Tears," has been nominated for Female Video of the Year and Breakthrough Video of the Year at this year's CMT Country Awards.
Jermaine Paul The Season Two winner on "The Voice" recently sang the National Anthem at a May 14 Mets game in New York. He released "Everyone In The World" in 2013.
Javier Colon Colon was the first winner of "The Voice" in 2011. He released "Come Through For You" on Universal five months later, but eventually parted ways with the label. He recently played a show in Nashville, and is touring this summer.
