CINCINNATI (AP) — Center fielder Peter Bourjos is a late scratch from the St. Louis Cardinals’ lineup against the Reds because of a stomach virus.

Jon Jay replaced Bourjos in center Saturday night, and manager Mike Matheny changed three spots in the batting order to accommodate the move, announced less than a half-hour before the first pitch against Cincinnati.

Bourjos is batting .227 with one homer and seven RBIs in 37 games. His batting average had dropped to .157 before he started to pull out of his opening slump.

The Cardinals also placed left-handed reliever Kevin Siegrist on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained pitching forearm. They called up left-handed reliever Sam Freeman from Triple-A Memphis to take his spot.
