ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The Anne Arundel County school board has selected a new superintendent.
The board announced Wednesday that is has appointed George Arlotto, the current chief of staff for the school system, to the post. The appointment depends on the finalization of his four-year contract.
Arlotto succeeds Interim Superintendent Mamie Perkins, who chose not to seek the position on a permanent basis. He will start in the position on July 1.
Arlotto joined the school system in 2006 after working in public Montgomery County and District of Columbia schools. He began his educational career at a boarding school in Lynchburg, Virginia.
