17 arrested in bust of multi-state drug network

WASHINGTON – Another 17 people were arrested Wednesday on federal charges of trafficking drugs from Texas to D.C.

A total of 26 people are charged with bringing heroin, cocaine, and pot into D.C. and Maryland, including two who were already in custody and seven others arrested in Texas on Monday.

FBI agents and D.C. police searched more than a dozen locations in D.C. and Maryland today. They seized cash, guns, heroin and PCP, according to U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen’s office.

If convicted, each suspect would face 10 years to life in prison.

Among those arrested were several members of the Floyd family: Juan Floyd, 45, of Temple Hills, Md., whom law enforcement believe is one of the ringleaders; his brother, John Floyd, 51, of D.C.; and his daughter, Juanita N. Culbreth, 27, of Oxon Hill, Md.

Investigators believe the drug network operated in D.C., Maryland, and Texas since October 2012.
